Get what you want from anyone

Let me give you some saucy advice on how to get people to do ANYTHING you want:

Not too long ago I needed a lock.

Fortunately for me, I found one on the ground.

BUT—it was locked. And I’m no lock opening master… my friend on the other hand; could do it blindfolded.

So… what did I do?

“Bro. You’re the best I know at cracking up locks—could you open this one?”

Boom. He locked it up within 7 seconds. I got what I wanted.

And there’s a specific reason behind that.

Let me tell you:

The best way to handle these situations is to employ the method of simply putting your fate in the other person’s hands.

Here’s how to do it:

First, let him know how much you believe in him as a human being. Even if you just met him, ASSUME he’s the best at it and express it:

“Bro. You’re the best I know at cracking up locks—could you open this one?”

What’s the key I used in this situation?

See if you can figure it out.

I showed him respect. I showed belief in him. I knew he was the best—and said so.

People act according to the way they feel you think they’re going to act.

That’s the key.

We act as others EXPECT us to act.

Weird how that works, isn’t it?

Anyways…

You let him know that you think he’s the master of (whatever you need him to do) and he will be more likely to do it.

Why does this work?

You’re:

  • Boosting his ego

  • Asking for a favor

  • Making him aware of WHAT you EXPECT of him

And boom. The person is sold.
