Day 8 - Be Specific
I’m sitting here at my desk. Faced forward to my setup.
As the rain keeps pouring on my window making that peaceful rainy sound… my fingers are writing.
Clicking on these weird-looking buttons. As I press it down. These letters appear on the screen.
I’m sitting in my previous gaming chair. It’s comfortable. But fairly not at the same time.
With one leg under the other I take a deep breath. Aaaa you gotta LOVE the smell of fresh. Wet. Air. Don’t you?
You see how I got you visualizing this in your head?
Advertises persuade you by giving you SPECIFIC details about the product.
Making you feel it.
Making you visualize it.
Here’s a rule to keep in mind: The more facts you include (in a NON-boring way) the better.
Copywriters who don’t do this produce weak copy.
Not good.
So. What’s the best way to entertain the reader?
Well. I already gave you the answer. Be specific. Make them FEEL.
When you sit down to write you should have a pile of info to pull from.
Twice as much as you will end up using in the final version.
Why?
When you have a storage of facts to pull from…. writing gets easy.
Literally. Just put the words on paper. Or in this case. Type them.
But NOT all of them.
Selec the most important facts and describe them in a clear and concise way.
Why does this work?
Ever found yourself in a chemistry test knowing NOTHING about the subject?
Well. I have.
And to sound smart. I BULLSHITED the whole test.
“Oh this does this because that happens when this happens. But this could also happen if that happens. And if it doesn’t happen this….”
See where I’m going?
When you run out of things to say… Sorry. Write.
You tend to fluff.
Not just you. Me you. The others reading this.
Trying to impress our ego with these fancy words. TO simply… fill the empty spaces.
The words might sound nice…
But add 0 value.
And the mail will not sell because you choose to boost your ego instead of your bank account.
For you lazy MFs:
Be specific ASF
Cut shitty words out
Pull up a fact storage before you write
And then. Sell.
That’s it.
