Day 3 - Make Sections
Do you remember the boring essays in school?
Long ass text. Lots of words. Long sentences.
Yuck. I’m getting a headache thinking about it ngl.
Well… here’s a pro tip;
Don’t write like that!
Your copy should be split up and easy to scan.
“But Leon. What’s the best way to divide it?”
If you have a series of sections where one point follows logically from the precious point…
or where the sales points are listed in order of importance use numbers.
Sales point
Sales Point
Beneft
Sales point
Blah blah blah
You get the idea. MAKE IT SCANABLE.
BUT—what if there’s no logical order?
No 3 steps to do this or that.
Well. If there is no order of importance or logical following among the sales points use dashes,
Bullet points
Or;
Subheadings.
Also… a quick tip to make it more readable; keep the paragraphs short.
No more than 2-3 sentences.
And leave some breathing space in between.
Why?
A long, unbroken paragraph tells my brain (and yours) “Shit. This is going to be hard to read. Let’s skip it.”
When you edit your copy.
Take use of subheadings to separate your copy.
Here’s a quick and simple formula:
USE:
short words
short sections
short sentences
short paragraphs
Got it?
Good.
I’ll go more in-depth on this tomorrow.
See you there my toxic friend.
