5 Steps To Earn Money As A Writer

Coming from someone who HATED writing

When I was 12.

Writing was my enemy.

Something I HATED with all my heart. (I’m serious… just look at the image)

Ironically enough. Writing is what’s going to help me retire my parents.

How?

With these 5 steps:

Listen.

If you want to make lots of money writing.

You need to nail these 5 things.

Not be mediocre. BUT NAIL.

First. Let’s talk about the obvious.

I’m tired of “copywriters” hitting me up in my DMs. With 10 grammar mistakes and a shitty pitch.

You NEED to be decent at writing.

Not a professional.
Not a perfectionist.
But decent.

Can you do that? Good.

Download Grammarly and you’re good to go.

Now. Let’s uncover the 5 things:

1. TALK TO YOUR AUDIENCE

A good writer knows how to talk to their audience.

Do you see how I’m talking to you right now?

What does this do?

If you said “creates a conversation in my head and a more personalized feeling”

BINGO.

Spot on.

Writing this way makes it much easier and “fun" to read. (and also spacing it up like I do makes it more scannable)

How do you do this?

There are 2 things that will help you make your writing feel legendary:

1. USE THE WORDS I, You, He, Him, She, Her, They, Them more often. (especially you)

 2. USE QUESTIONS. Got it? (see what I did there? and just now? aaand now?)

Start doing these 2 things and you’re guaranteed a positive impact on your writing. (take notice of how many times I’m going to use the word “you” starting now)

2. BE CONCISE

The second thing you MUST do to become a good writer is.. to be concise.

If you write a sentence.

Look over it.

Can you shorten it? Yes? Do it.

Look over it again.

Can you still shorten it without getting rid of the message? Yes? Do it.

Got it?

Look at the professional and beautifully executed image down below:

What’s important is that you’re crystal clear.

Cut out the fluff.

Nobody gives a fuck about your extra and advanced words. (this does not mean you shouldn’t be specific.. we’ll cover it later #4)

You can use the Hemingway editor to help you out. (it’s free)

It’s a game-changer.

And has helped me write copy as clear as the ocean in Albania. (it's fucking clear)

3. PROVOKE EMOTIONS

If you can’t provoke emotions… you’re doing it wrong.

Being a writer is all about hitting the pain points.

Have you ever heard the saying “Put a knife in the sore and twist it”?

That’s what you’re going to do.

Figuring out what your reader wants. And the WHY to it.

And then amplifying it.

Let’s say your reader is fat.

And WANT to lose weight BECAUSE they’re struggling with confidence.

By knowing this you can touch on their pain points.

See? ⬇️

Sometimes even make them cry… if you hit spot on.

(see how I’m using the words You, They, Them, I? And now also questions?)

Some even call copywriting manipulation.

And I’m not going to argue whether it is or not. (you’ll be the judge of that)

But if you want to succeed you’ll have to know HOW humans think and operate.

Cuz we all work the same way.

We have 2 driving motivators:

1. Pain
2. Desire

I’ve covered this recently.. so check it out >> HERE << (it's valuable BUT finish reading this first)

Once you know that.

You’ll get them to whip out their credit card easily.

4. PLAY A MOVIE IN YOUR READERS MIND

Imagine.

You wake up to the smell of the salty and icy-blue ocean next to your mansion, you can hear the 1.5 meter-high waves pound in on the rocks and the crispy bubble sound appearing once the wave retracts…

the sun is shining through your red curtains, hitting the corner of your left eye... and you jump out of your big royal King sized bed with 5 pillows and a blanket so big ti could cover all of Africa to conquer the day.

As you’re taking steps toward the balcony on the icy cold floor.. you stop up and realize that I just made you imagine all of this.

Like. A. Movie.

See how easy it is?

And there’s only 1 reason for that… You need to be specific enough.

Describe it so well that they can feel it...

With all their 5 senses:

• Smell
• Taste
• Vision
• Touch
• Sound

Got it? Good.

Now. You’ll learn the good stuff that gets you (and your client) paid.

5. MAKE THE READER TAKE ACTION

“No need to make a decision today! There are plenty of other businesses that sell the same service at the same price. There’s plenty of time and the service will always be available when you need it”

When you read the text above.

What goes through your head? Yawn! Right?

Boring. And you simply won’t take action.

Why?

Because there was no scarcity.
No urgency.
Nothing that made you WANT to take action.
And NOONE that told you to take action.

Sadly. This is how most businesses advertise their stuff.

They don’t make the reader want to take action.

They simply state the facts and leave it at that. What a waste of money…

The process of getting people to act is fairly simple.

A 2-step process in fact:

1. Make it easy to act
2. Ask them to act

Now. Let’s dive in a bit more.

Ofc. Doing this won’t have a 100% conversion rate.

But… it will increase the possibility of your readers taking action.

And that would be good wouldn’t it?

So let’s talk about step 1: Make it easy to act.

Why is this important?

We humans are lazy creatures.

And as time passes by we get more and more lazy.

Think about it for a sec.

If we had access to a button that would feed us I guarantee 100% of you would press it.

And some would even wish a button for the button to feed you was a thing…

That’s how lazy we’re becoming.

We want results now (ideally yesterday (you read that right)).

You see why clear and concise is the way to go now?

As humans.. we don’t want to get “involved” in something that makes us think for ourselves.

EXAMPLE: If someone crashed with a cycle… chances are 90% of you wouldn’t give a damn.

“I’d rather not get involved” because you’re thinking about all the hassle and shit that comes with it = too much energy.

Where do I want to go with this? Make it as easy as possible for the reader to take action and buy (or book a call).

The simpler the process the better.

(2) And then ask them. That simple.

“Buy this”
“Enroll Now”

Or you can crank it up with scarcity…

“Reserve your spot by clicking here (3 spots left)”

“Buy Now! (24 hours left)”

That's it my insanely toxic friend. If you made it to the end. Congrats. You're by my definition in the top 1%.
